It's a Camp Life

It's been awhile since I've done a camp life update! So, pull up a chair and get comfy! This last quarter seriously flew by. In the past three months our family has been in a whirlwind of changes. The first being that last month we moved or rather swamped houses with a family here on camp! This is our third home that we've stayed in for our move to San Diego so it feels good to finally unpack boxes that we haven't seen for over 6 months and settle in a bit. God blessed us greatly with friends, family and camp staff to help us pack, move, unpack all the while chasing after a super cute toddler! And a very pregnant mama! We are so thankful!

Look out this little lady is taking over the playground!

Camp News:
This season at Indian Hills has been packed full with 6th grade camps! Nate has loved being able to teach outdoor education again. He has such a gift for teaching kids and I have loved the few classes that I have sat in on. I love hearing all about how the glory of God is revealed in oak trees, rattle snakes and the world around us! This season I have had the blessing of doing some media stuff for IHC by helping out with daily photography. I have loved the opportunity to interact with the kids, parents, and teachers. It is such a blessing to hear the stories of how kids are changed by camp in a few days. Yesterday, a boy named Tony and I were walking to the paintball range and he was telling me how he had never done archery, BMX or paintball! His eyes lit up as he told me that he was going to learn to do BMX professionally one day. I smiled as he ran off to paintball.

Camping ministry has always challenged my views of ministry. Can you consider it ministry if a child doesn't mention God? Is is ministry if there aren't sobering moments? Can ministry be... fun? While camp does a great job of putting in devotionals for the kids and talking seriously about Jesus, the most important part just might be the fun! So while Tony didn't mention God or being changed. Jesus was with him having a blast at paintball, archery and cheering him on at the BMX track.

As adults we can get bogged down by the list of responsibilities, places to be, chores to do etc. Especially as a mom so much of my day is full of diaper changes, laundry, dishes, getting to the next chore before the end of the day. Tony reminded me of something very powerful, Jesus likes us, and better yet wants to have fun with us. He wasn't worried about homework, cleaning his room, or really anything except getting to paintball! While I still have diaper changes, laundry, bills etc. it is so good for me to have fun with Jesus! These last few months have brought with them their own laundry list of things that I continually have to bring to the feet of Jesus, and Tony was a great reminder of finding rest.

Family News:
In terms of family news we found out that our newest addition is a BOY!! We couldn't be more thrilled and look forward to meeting our man at the end of February. We are so thankful for your prayers, and support as we add another member to our family! Baby and I are doing really great, and he is measuring nice and big!  This pregnancy has gone by so fast and before we know it Bree will be a big sister! I can't wait to see the bond, and life long friendship that these two will share!

Helping type emails in the office with Jessica!

Prayer/Financial News:
Nate and I have been so humbled by all of your support, we cannot thank you enough for all of the prayers for baby boy, my health, for the move. We have felt them all in such a mighty way these last few months. We are so thankful for your one-time donations, and monthly support as well, it is keeping us a float as we continue to live on part missional support. What a journey of faith it has been for us to fully leave our finances in the hands of God and trust that he is going to bring us just exactly what we need. Asking for money is something that Nate and I really don't like to do. We believe in hard work and earning your way. So being on missional staff is certainly stretching our ideas of what that means and how God sees money. We are coming to the end of ourselves, realizing that any and all money we have is from God and that we have to ask him for it. Please don't feel obligated to support us, but prayerfully consider what God wants you to do. Our current financial needs seem great at the moment, but we know that God has always been faithful and given us exactly what we need. To share more specifically we are looking for  monthly contributors that are passionate about the ministry that Nate and I are doing. We are actively seeking monthly supporters that want to invest in our family and our ministry through prayer, and finances. While in this season some of our supporters have decided to go in a different direction, we see this as a great opportunity because we know that God is using this to bring about new opportunities! That has been a painful, but important lesson for our family, and for those of you that are still with us we are so grateful and know that God is using your heart and passion to bring more kids to Christ!

Specifically  our goal is reach $300 more monthly.
